Adult Beginner

Pilates is all about developing core stability, balancing your body and mind, strength, flexibility, breathing, posture and relaxation. You create graceful, total body movement with precision and poise. Pilates was originally devised by Joseph Pilates in the 1920’s . It’s now practised and loved worldwide and is endorsed by health professionals for the benefits it brings.

Pilates is beneficial for all ages and levels of fitness. Its very complementary to dance and golf, tennis, football, running and other sports. Pilates is suitable pre and post-natally and can be a great way to come back from injury or operations and to manage chronic conditions. You can start Pilates even if you have a sedentary lifestyle and work at your own pace.

Tania will take into account any issues on your registration form and talk to your physio or doctor if necessary so that your class will be tailored to you. If you are fully fit or an elite athlete, the class can be adjusted to enhance your sport and fitness levels.

All live classes, whether on zoom or in person, are small and interactive so you receive personalised teaching. The emphasis is on good alignment and technique, breathing, relaxation and enjoyment so you can make good progress at your own pace. If you have any concerns about joining a beginners class, please get in touch with Tania.

Adult Intermediate/Advanced

Tania is fully trained and experienced in teaching all aspects of intermediate and advanced matwork, small equipment and studio equipment. At Willow Pilates the classes are mat and small equipment and the emphasis is on gradual progression to fully integrated mind body movement. We add equipment including weights and balls to add challenge, standing work for functional and strength training and constantly vary the choreography to keep things fresh.

Tania enjoys keeping up to date with the latest pilates training and brings in new ideas from training courses she attends.

All classes, whether on zoom or in person are small and interactive, so you receive personalised teaching.

Precision is a key principle of pilates and the body always tricks us into thinking we’re doing one thing when we’re actually doing something else! The live feedback you receive from Tania means you can be sure you are doing the moves well and keep progressing.

Mindfulness, breathing, stretching and relaxation are also included as part of the sessions.

One-to-ones

Private sessions are the class of choice for many reasons: maybe you like to really focus on your pilates and find the undivided attention more enjoyable? Perhaps you just need some “me time” in a busy, bustling life? It can work well if you are coming back after injury or an operation and you could use more input and support. You may benefit from a programme specifically created to support your work, hobby or sport and you may want more depth on postural or alignment issues.

If you are not regularly available for a set time slot , private sessions and a home programme may be the best solution for you. Whatever the reason, you can be sure that Tania will devise a bespoke class, just for you and provide online support and contact between lessons to help you with any home programme you are using.

Pre-school Puppies

What can we say! Puppy pilates is the best! With imaginative games, songs, counting, jumping, toys and balls it’s amazing how balance, coordination, flexibility, stability and concentration are fun. Tania refreshed her kids and teens qualifications with APPI and completed the NSPCC child safety in sport safeguarding course in 2020.

We’ve worked with Whitchurch-On-Thames Pre School for puppy pilates and have run zoom puppy pilates through lockdown. Small, interactive classes are fun for pre-school age children on zoom and in person.

Kids 5-12

Kids Pilates is game based fun. With movement, balance, agility, flexibility, core stability and jumping. We use soft balls as props and tactile cues. Tania refreshed her kids and teens qualifications with APPI and completed the NSPCC child safety in sport safeguarding course in 2020.

We’ve had very positive feedback from our kids about their Pilates sessions.

Pilateens

Pilates for teens is so helpful for their growth and posture and at Willow Pilates we make sure its fun. Ideal for kids who are sporty, who want to balance their bodies as they train and compete. It can give a competitive edge and help prevent sporting injuries.

Mindfulness can provide calm at a stage of life which can be stressful and pressurised. It’s great for children who don’t like other sport or activity as its totally individual, at your own pace and the classes themselves are non competitive with a good team dynamic.
